The EVE Guide: Redfern Through Our Eyes

19th May 2026

Step outside The EVE and you’re already somewhere worth exploring. Wunderlich Lane – the design-led precinct that the hotel calls home – hums with some of Sydney’s most enticing dining, retail, and creative destinations. And beyond its laneways, Redfern unfolds with an unmistakable cultural identity.

Redfern is one of Sydney's most vibrant neighbourhoods – a place where community and creativity intersect, and there are endless ways to fill the day.

As part of the Eora Nation of the Gadigal people, this inner-city neighbourhood holds deep cultural significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and is recognised as the birthplace of modern Aboriginal activism. Today, its restored heritage and ongoing transformation reveal a neighbourhood with an unmistakable cultural confidence.

From elevated dining in Wunderlich Lane to heritage streetscapes and galleries celebrating First Nations art, here are a few of our favourite ways to pass the day.

LOTTIE

Restaurant and Mezcaleria Lottie celebrates Mexican cuisine reimagined through a fresh local lens. Set atop The EVE, the all-weather rooftop destination pairs agave-led cocktails with a seasonal menu shaped by vibrant local produce and bold, punchy flavours paired with fresh-pressed housemade tortillas. Entirely gluten-free, Lottie brings a considered approach to rooftop dining from long lunches through to late-night mezcal moments.

Bar Julius

Slide into a buttery leather banquette at Bar Julius for all-day dining. Elegant and ever-buzzing, our lobby bar and restaurant blends the ease of a neighbourhood local with the energy of a great European bistro. Spanning the arc of the day from a morning espresso to an evening aperitif, this space is adorned with a wonderfully eclectic collection of artworks. Be sure to look up and take in the stunning Barrisol ceiling, based on the original artwork ‘Still Life’ by local artist Louise Olsen of Dinosaur Designs.

Seating only 12 guests and just a few steps from The EVE, this intimate space is a dining experience like no other.

The scents and textures found throughout your stay at The EVE Hotel can be discovered beyond your room.
