From 2–4 September, six guest rooms will become immersive, curated environments exploring the increasingly fluid space between art and design. Furniture, lighting, vessels, textiles, floristry and even cake become vehicles for creative expression, with each room offering a different perspective on the objects that surround us.
Experienced through intimate curator-led tours hosted by Arts-Matter, The Object Show invites visitors inside six distinct worlds: Play, Botanical, Edible, Collectible, Interior and Light.
Play — UnitePlayPerform
Australian multidisciplinary artist UnitePlayPerform creates otherworldly environments spanning art, performance and experiential design.
For Build and Destroy, monumental soft architectures emerge as playable forms - part ruin, sanctuary and playground. Rather than sculpture simply to be observed, the room becomes an environment to inhabit, negotiate and reimagine.
Edible — Vege Mamma
French-Australian conceptual cake maker and edible artist Valentine Fodor, known as Vege Mamma, turns the familiar rituals of a hotel stay into something unexpected.
Everyday objects — from luggage and slippers to soap, a hairbrush and room service menu — are meticulously recreated in cake, transforming the ordinary into hyper-real edible sculpture.
Collectible — BTWNLNS
Newtown-based BTWNLNS brings together contemporary design, independent publishing and collectible objects through a distinctly European lens.
Here, sculptural objects are intended not simply to be viewed from a distance, but touched, experienced and lived with — exploring what happens when function and sculpture become part of the same conversation.
Interior — RAINBOW STUDIOS
Founded by Brent Gold and Jade Gillett, RAINBOW STUDIOS celebrates the art and design of now while championing creative talent from Australia and beyond.
Almost 50 one-of-a-kind pieces come together through colour, texture, shape and material, considering how the objects we choose to surround ourselves with become expressions of who we are.
Light — Arts-Matter × Tom Anson Mesker
Curated by Arts-Matter and Tom Anson Mesker, Let There Be Light considers illumination as an essential design language — one capable of shaping atmosphere, architecture and emotion.
Bringing together art and design objects that use light as their primary medium, the room moves between sculpture, functional design and installation to explore the transformative power of light within a space.
The Next Chapter of Art House
The Object Show marks the culmination of The EVE Art House, our inaugural winter cultural season exploring the relationship between art, design, architecture and hospitality
Launched in May with artist and Dinosaur Designs Creative Director Louise Olsen, Art House has unfolded throughout the hotel through new works and objects, cultural conversations and curated experiences.
The Object Show extends this philosophy into the guest room itself. At The EVE, art and design aren't considered in isolation: from furniture and lighting to artworks and decorative objects, each element contributes to the experience of a space. For three days, six creative perspectives take that idea somewhere entirely new.
